Annual General Meeting

MINUTES 21ST MAY 2008   8:05pm

1, Minutes of AGM 16th May 2007 their were no matters arising and were agreed
Proposed by   W Pittman      Seconded  N Folland

2,Secretary reported  their would be a 50p increase of the nccu fee board fee for M C A £3:50 but would include Nccu fee total £14 per board ,all results had been kept up to date a list had been printed for players to see.

3, Treasurer’s report which include both club and rapid-play accounts
   Were presented question’s Paul & Will were explained by PETER in all we were in a healthy financial position 
Proposed by J Gavin Seconded N Folland  and agreed

4. Captains Report

Sk 1 had a good start to the season falling away in the latter stages IAN thanked all for their efforts but due to work commitment’s he would be stepping down next season.

Sk 2 MCA div 4 champions having been so near in the past steve in taking his team up thanking all for a great team effort. Will Hayes was div 4 player of year

Sk 3 MCA Div 5 champions using some 14 player’s this was a good team effort and we look forward to div 4 thank you all.

Warrington with Neil being his player of the year and the team improving their position on last year Derek expressed thanks to all for their support over the last few years’s but now felt it was time to hand over the captaincy, Thank you Derek from all at the club.

Sk A using 18 players John Littlewood was player of year, his team had done well but due to holidays more holidays and other semi-retirement commitment’s he would like someone to take over as captain.

SK B finishing third in their league this was a very good effort as the team mainly included junior’s John thanked John Reid and Peter for running the team for him when he was ill well done everyone.

Derek raised the point of a fuel fund organized by the club. After a discussion and with prices going up by the day we would leave this to the individual to make a decent contribution to cost’s.                              
                   
Peter pointed out that he had signed a disclaimer form the MCA regarding the trophies.

Neil said about heating the club had supplied a gas heater and were looking into other heating.

Paul Massey spoke about Roy’s baby’s illness. It was agreed a card etc would by sent with our best wishes!

2, Membership to remain as last year:
- NCCU Fee                       £10       
- Skelmersdale Club Fee   £5 adult; 60+ £2; Juniors free
   A proposal by Peter for all to become members of the ex-sevice mens club cost £ 5:00 per person to by paid for out of club funds agreed and passed Pp John  sec Neil

3. Club rapid play WED 16TH  JULY 7:30PM
    Xmas do wed 17th December  7;30pm
    John asked the club to provide prizes this was agreed

Regarding sk2,  if no captain is available by the MCA meeting of  1ST  JULY 2008  ONLY 2 teams will be entered with
 sk 1 div 3 and sk 3 becoming sk 2 div 4

5.  PLAYER OF YEAR:  JOE DILWORTH

In an after meeting discussion it was felt that if we only have 2 teams in the MCA losing 6 boards (17 to 11) some players may not play as many games as they would like  due to selection by captians sk 1 div 3 and sk 3 becoming sk 2 div 4. So it is important someone takes up the challenge and becomes captain!
